Charley Speaks!!!!

As you can see, Charley broke her silence and started talking to us. She talks a lot now, and even though she speaks no discernible language, it was obvious to us that she had a list of demands.

"More polka dots! I want them everywhere, Mom! Get on it!"

She definitely wanted more face time with Mama.

She kisses back, but mostly open-mouthed.She demanded that Daddy buy himself a new surfboard. He kindly obliged.

So, Charley is getting to be more fun all of the time. She talks and smiles and gets cuter every minute. We will keep all of her fans posted!

Sorry for the Delay!

Since we last updated you on our little Charley, she has had some great adventures growing up. Sorry to all for the delay in posting. We are trying to post, but we keep falling asleep in the evenings. (Caring for this girl is exhausting.) Anyway, here she is!

In the last few weeks, Charley has picked up on some of Mom and Dad's favorite pastimes.

She got to attend some really fun parties. Here she is all dressed up to party.

Finally, here's Kelly. She insisted that she get some practice in before holding Charley, and although Koa was not our first pick, Kelly thought it would really prepare her for the worst.

Charley's First Zoo Trip

Charley reminded us of a lot of the animals at the zoo that day-the nursing chimpanzee, the baby meerkats, but mostly the koalas. It was obvious that she fell in love with the zoo that day, and that is why Mom and Dad decided to buy a one-year membership. We are both really excited about future trips to the zoo when Charlotte opens her eyes for a little part of the day.

Last weekend, we took Charley up to Truckee for her first weekend in the snow. We all got to enjoy the snow and stay warm in the cabin.

So, it's been two weeks since I posted (sorry to all of our loyal followers) and we have had some really fun adventures. Here are some pics of Charley meeting her family members. It's been so much fun to watch our parents became grandparents since Charley is the first grandchild on both sides. And it's been even more amazing to watch our grandparents become great grandparents. I think it's really an incredible experience for them as well to meet another generation of their family. So, it's been a little while since I posted and we've had yet another busy week. Last Saturday we noticed some yellow goo in Charley's left eye, well sure enough, she had pink eye. We have since gotten some drops and she's now cured, but we were feeling sad that our new baby already caught her first set of germs. It turns out, it's very common for newborns to get a clogged tear duct which can lead to pink eye.

Yesterday, Charley hopped in the bath with her daddy to get a good scrub down. She loved every minute of it and was happy as a clam. Afterwards, we got to use her chick towel for the first time and she looked so cute.

Since the arrival of our new camera, we've become obsessed with taken photos of Charley (no big surprise there) and she's had quite the week to document with a very full social schedule. She's met many friends and family members, she had her first bath (just a sponge bath at this point), and she even went to her first squadron event.

The accomplishment of Charley's that we are most proud of at this point is her ability to sleep through the night. She has settled into a routine of sleeping at 5-6 hour intervals at a time during the night and 2-3 hour intervals during the day. We're not counting on this habit to stick quite yet, but we sure are praying for it.

Overall, our first week home has been amazing. Many people have told us how much fun being parents is, and we couldn't agree more. It's scary how fast they change, every day we notice something new, even if it's just a new expression she makes, her fingers filling out a little more, or her ability to hold her head up for just a little longer. Anyways, I had better get back to her so I don't miss anything else!
